Vintage Design
The chair is intended as a dining room chair, but thanks to its excellent comfort and cool expression, it works just as well as an armchair next to the sofa, a desk, as a solitary chair in the hall/bedroom, etc.
The seat of the chair is molded in white plastic which is mounted on a frame of four chair legs made of chromed steel.
The pair of Eames multifunctional Plastic Chairs were introduced at the design competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1950. Charles and Ray presented the organically designed plastic chair seats with the possibility of combining with different frames, which gave the chair/armchair a multitude of different functions and could thus serve different purposes.
Vitra today manufactures a revised design and material selection for even higher seating comfort and quality.
The DAR chair (Dining Height Armchair Rod Base) combines light and elegant shapes with a sturdy and graceful frame which, given its appearance, is called the ‘Eiffel Tower’.
All chairs stamped and labelled.
Width 62.5 cm, height 83 cm, depth 60 cm and seat height 43 cm.
