Antique French Limoges Dresser Box With Hand Painted Angelic Putti Scene

Playful putti decorate this hand painted antique porcelain dresser box by Tressemanes & Vogt. Made in Limoges, France in the 1890’s, it has a shell/floral embossed bowl and lid. It is hand painted a pale pink with brushed gilding. The center of the lid is adorned with two winged putti, playing with a garland of roses.

It is hard to find older French dresser boxes with the lids, since these delicate porcelain boxes were intended for daily use and often broke. This one did have a chip on the inside of the lid, which has a glue repair and is not noticeable when the lid is on.
